So you are you just ignoring 95% of the forums?

Pretty sure this is the worst thing you've ever done to the game, besides nerfing dual orders.

Isn't it appropriate to support group play by increasing the amount of loot so that players get their fair share? I don't see it "disadvantaging" farmers so much as making things more fair for everyone.

Now, I saw this line when the notes were being circulated, and figured farmers would rejoice:
  • Repeated map entry no longer reduces loot.
Isn't that message strongly in support of the notion that if you choose to farm, you'll have the freedom to do so?
Please explain this update from the point of view of reduces sized teams set up for farming. If I can do an area with a team of 5 as opposed to a team of 8, why would I? Why do you want to discourage innovative strategies?

The difference between a perfect gold deadsword and its PVP equivalent is that the deadsword looks pretty.

Who cares about looks when I'm beating your face in with it?
I very much doubt that you and the "Lords of the Dead" have beat many faces in.

A lot of gold? Not really... at all. Cleared Perdition Rock and got 684 gold. That's less than 1/4 of what I got from regular drops from the monsters while clearing it. I could have gone and played in normal mode for the same amount of time and made just as much money (monster drops + vanquisher bonus).

The difference there is that Anet has acknowledged that the SR change was not ideal. This is still new, a great many people who play the game were asleep when the update went live and haven't even had a chance to find out what's happened. If you want to tell people to stop whining about it, 1) wait a week or so and/or 2) wait until Anet admits that it's not an ideal situation.

Universal appreciation, not from my Guild so far. Higher levels in HM is what was expected, but the same amount of loot from them as their NM counterparts is not ok at all.

We decided to try Sorrows Furnace on Hard Mode, and right away noticed that the cash drops were the same as NM - no special drops either.

Then we decided to experiment and do the same run in Normal Mode. Well, 4 greens, 2 golds, and more loot & cash.

Then we did a 5 man run - same cash, and we were in NM.

So much for better drops I guess. Far easier for me to grab a guildie and hero some runs in NM than spend who knows how many hours waiting to get into a party in HM.

I'll mess around in game for awhile, see what changes are made and reserve final judgement.

Ok this is how I look at the situation.... I love doing solo and full group farming and whatnot, I am not happy with the update...But what I think some people are missing is the fact that ANET wants to drag everything out... What I mean by this, it will take longer to make money, to get the items and the armor that one wants in the game.... If they reduce loot drops this will take longer tp achieve those goals, allowing them time to dev EOTN and gw2, by trying to keep us entertained in the mean time. As far as the lock picks, hard mode and whatnot, just makes it easier for people to get their titles, and grind for them with the hope of some benifit in gw2. I know that Anet will never make everyone happy, those that dont solo farm, could care less. Those that do solo farm care greatly, sometimes you jsut cant win.
Having said that, the update itself is not bad.. The reduce loot drop will effect everyone... The way I see it, solo farmers can control alot of the economy. (i.e constant echo buys/sells) highend items they might get and evrything else ppl solo farm to gain. We shall see how this effects the markets. I really hope though that ANET will decide to fix the one mistake in this update that might very well turn many ppl away from GW1 and stay away from EOTN and GW2

haha, nerfing dual orders. Good jk.

Seriously tho, scale up teams rather than scaling down solo farming.

Also, less Public Relations Bullshit. We know what we think, dont try and tell us its a success when its viewed as broken. Its insults our inteligence.

We've heard over and over that they want more people to be involved in the "player based economy", yet they do the very thing that makes things even more rare. Scarcity of desired items = higher prices. It's simple economics. Gradually they are getting to the point where there will be no bot farming. Of course at the same time they will manage to drive away enough players that it won't matter because not enough people will continue to play to make farming worthwhile for the botters anyway. It's kind of like shopping. You expect a store to take some steps to stop shoplifters. However, if they strip-searched every person who left a store every time, pretty soon no one would shop there. This loot thing is a giant step in that direction.

And Gaile, please don't insult our intelligence. There's no way I believe that you honestly thought farmers would rejoice over this update. That's kind of like saying you thought criminals would rejoice when they were handcuffed.

Anet started the "need" for farming with things like FOW armor. The average player will never ever be able to afford it or gather the needed materials without farming. So this little charade about wanting the average player to be able to afford the rare items is disingenuous at best.

Again we aren't talking about more effective items. Max damage/effect items are available from the collectors and can be modified to emulate nearly any green or rare item out there. A player with the cheapest max armor and collector weapons/items is every bit as effective as those with the rare stuff. All we are talking about here is graphics and fake money.

If everyone can get it then it isn't special. If it isn't special then not many people want to get it. If you kill the incentive and ability for people to strive for things that are difficult to get then many will just give up and move on.

There's not much of an incentive to try to do missions/quests with smaller parties now. If you get the same loot whether you solo or have a full group, you might as well take the maximum amount.

The bottom line is the "scaled" loot drops was a very bad idea IMHO. I could be wrong and it's your game so do what you want, but don't be surprised to see the active player base drop dramatically within the next few weeks if that change is permanent.

No.

Giving players the freedom to choose group sizes when farming would be freedom to do so.

And what of high end items ? The prices will skyrocket. solo farmers are important to the economy, their shenanigans bring prices down a lot more then people realize.

Lets watch as ectos and pretty much everything with value triple in price.

In short:

Guild wars just became Grind wars.

I am sure they will make the drop rate better or put it back the way it was. There is far to many people fired up over this and this could be the final straw to pushes people away. It has only been a few hours and look at the response. Most of the kiddies are still in bed sleeping. It will get worse before it gets better.

I'd like to go on the record saying that Lews and myself are no longer solo farmers. Once upon a time we solo farmed ToPK/HA with IWAY but those days are long gone.

Well they ARE people against the solo farm are they not? Unless they're just random people who like randomly telling people to "STFU"

I think most people are talking about solo farming not group farming. This update was a huge blow to solo farmers.

Do greens also get scaled up or is it still pretty much one green drop at a time? If so, it would make it harder for people to get greens because atleast before you could attempt to solo for it. Go in wiht a group, there is a good chance it won't even drop and even if it does, it prob. goes to someone else.

The latter statement is correct, and I think you meant they are FOR solo farm. Either way the later comment was the correct one, though.
